BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Nicole Kafka was born and raised in Manhattan. She is a cum laude graduate of Harvard college and earned her medical degree from Cornell University. She completed residencies in General Surgery at The New York Hospital and in Colon and Rectal Surgery at The Ferguson Clinic, Grand Rapids, MI, as well as a Post Doctoral Research Fellowship, investigating the cell and molecular biology of colorectal cancer, and a Pelvic Floor Fellowship, including research in the physiology and management of fecal incontinence. She has published papers on several topics including incontinence, colorectal neoplasia, and inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Kafka was the 1996 recipient of the New England Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons' Resident's Prize. She has been in practice in New York since 1998. She is a fellow of The American College of Surgeons and The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. Dr. Kafka resides in Manhattan. In addition to her surgical practice, she performs as a classical soprano and is a member of The Magic Circle Opera Repertory Ensemble.
